Cryogenic quantum computers are complex machines. At Arctic Instruments, we’re concerned with simplifying the deployment of near-quantum-limited readout chains, giving our customers more time to focus on their core business.

The Company
Arctic Instruments is a spin-off of VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. We have made a focused effort to build our technology and product over the last five years, based on decades of accumulated experience on the design and fabrication of superconducting circuits at VTT.
At Arctic Instruments, we are on a mission to enable quantum computing and help it create broad societal impact. Our goal is to provide top-tier plug & play microwave readout solutions to customers. Our first step towards these builds upon our experience in making near quantum-limited parametric amplifiers.
The Core Team

Joonas Govenius
Co-founder / CEO
Joonas Govenius has fifteen years of research experience in the field of superconducting circuits, as well as broad managerial experience. He has worked on parametric amplifiers, superconducting qubits, superconducting radiation detectors, and 3D integration of superconducting circuits. His background includes degrees from world-leading institutions such as Princeton and ETH Zurich.

Visa Vesterinen
Co-founder / CTO
Experienced scientist in the field of superconducting (quantum) circuits, Visa Vesterinen is the lead designer of the existing product, contributing to multiple patents in the field. With a scientific career developed at VTT over the course of fifteen years, he is the mastermind behind our circuit design and cryogenic characterization efforts.

Mário Ribeiro
Co-founder / COO
Experienced scientist with multidisciplinary background, from high-volume semiconductor back-end manufacturing to research in emerging fields of science such as 2D materials and spintronics, Mário Ribeiro is the fabrication lead of our product.
